UPDATE: Nuvita Opening Delayed

The opening of a new frozen yogurt cafe has been postponed for a week.

JiMin “Jason” Moon is known throughout the Amity community for his athletic abilities, having been the Captain of the Amity High School Football Team in 2009, as well as his singing and acting talents — the High School jock was in the Drama Club too.

But come this Friday, he will be famous for his frozen yogurt.  Moon and his father are the brains behind the nuvita frozen yogurt and café that will offer everyone a new gathering spot in town with healthy menu offerings and Wifi.

Patch met with Moon on June 21 to “tour” the new café, but the ongoing construction made it difficult to step inside and get a feel of what it will look like at the grand opening at 35 Old Tavern Road, in a few days.

Many residents who watch the Orange Government Access Television cablecasts most likely have seen Moon at a meeting or two seeking approvals from various town boards and commissions.

Nuvita is a self-serve frozen yogurt shoppe that will offer a variety of toppings. After you are done creating your yogurt masterpiece it will be weighed and you will be charged by the ounce.

“[Nuvita] will offer a healthier substitution to snacks and desserts,” Moon said.

He said the Café will have Wifi and be a place where students can gather and study and do their homework in a comfortable environment. It will have window seating and about 10 tables.

Being an entertainer, he sees the need for a place for young people to perform

The Café will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. In the future he plans to introduce other items, such as coffee, but for now, it’s the hot spot for frozen yogurt.

Come by for the Grand Opening on July 1 and welcome “Jason” and his healthy treats to town.

Bethany resident Zack Janesky, who graduated from Amity High School last week, designed the logo for the business.
