Gas Still Available Below $4 in Orange As State Prices Soar

Prices recently hit $4 and keep on rising.

Update (12:00 p.m.):

Gas prices continue to skyrocket in Orange.

The only location in Orange with gas under $4 is Route 34 Fuel on Derby Turnpike, holding strong at $3.99. Regular unleaded shot from $3.94 to $4.01 at Stop & Shop this morning.

Original Story (11:30 a.m.)

Gas prices in Connecticut continue to rise, with the average price per gallon now at $4.07, according to price tracking website ConnecticutGasPrices.com. A month ago the average price was only $3.93.

In Orange, gas is still available for under $4 at  (259 Bull Hill Lane) and (217 Derby Turnpike), at $3.94 and $3.95, respectively. Everywhere else, it's $4.00 or above.

Despite the rise, analyst Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com – the parent company of ConnecticutGasPrices.com- thinks prices will drop soon.

"Even with Isaac long gone, the oil industry is still bringing capacity back online- at refineries and oil rigs, which is keeping pressure on prices," DeHaan said in a press release. "Supply remains tight across the country as we slowly approach the transition to winter-spec gasoline, but I continue to be firm in believing that the national average will start to decline towards the end of September, as is typically the case.”

The national average is $3.82 per gallon.
