UPDATE: Sections of Westfield Shoppingtown Re-Opening

The lower level of the mall in Milford is still closed, but the upper level is re-opening.

Update at 2:18 p.m. on Friday, September 28th:

While the lower level of the Mall is still closed, the upper level is now re-opening, according to Westfield Shoppingtown Director of Marketing Amy Daniels.

Daniels says the best places to enter the mall is on the third floor by the Rave movie theater or through the Panera Bread entrance.

Original Story:

"We are closed at this time. We do hope to re-open," said Westfield Shoppingtown Director of Marketing Amy Daniels.

Daniels added that she did not know if the mall would re-open later today or tomorrow.

"We have people coming to site shortly to clear it up," Daniels said. "There is a flood on lower level due to storm drains. We're still in the process of assessing the damage."

We will bring you more information as this story develops.

Wouldn't be surprised with the geniuses that manage this property if this is due to poor maintenance.

No it wasn't due to poor maintenance. We were in the store(Sears) from 11-2pm.It was because of the heavy rain and the drain outside the pick-up parking area couldn't handle the downpour. It flooded up to the entryway door.

A modern development like this mall should be able to handle a downpour without flooding. Sounds like poor/blocked drainage.

It rained four inches. That is a LOT of water. I'm surprised more of Milford wasn't flooded.
