Restaurants in Orange — Lisiano's

Lisiano's Italian Restaurant

, on the Boston Post Road in Orange, has been a landmark known by locals for their fine Italian Cuisine for many years.  They survive because of the quality and value of their food.

This week, I was accompanied by Marianne Miller, President of the Orange Lions Club.  As usual, I went mid-week, when the restaurants are not crowded and mistakes can happen.  No mistakes here, the service and food was at it's best.

It was tough to choose a meal, because the menu had multiple selections that caught my eye and the specials board made things even worse.  I wanted it all.  While procrastinating, the server brought over a basket of freshly baked bread and complimentary squash flowers.  They were a very pleasant surprise and made it even harder to select a meal.  They were delicate and the flavor with the ricotta, a fantastic starter.   Rating 9

I selected the Seafood Buccaniera from the specials board and Marianne chose Chicken Parmigiana.

We had salads to start.  They were fresh, clean and crisp.  The dressing was a house made Italian, which had a sweetness that I couldn't put my finger on.  Chef Chris Schiano, revealed that it was Oil and vinegar along with some ingredients that I can not reveal.  I didn't want to fill up on it, but couldn't stop.  Rating 9.5

The Seafood Buccaniera was fantastic.  The calamari melted in your mouth and the flavors of the scallops and shrimp exploded.  The salmon took on a slight taste of the sauce, but all of the natural flavors came through, unlike some I have had where the flavor is absorbed by the sauce leaving the fish tasteless.  The down side was not enough shrimp.  I was unable to finish it and had a nice lunch for the next day.  Rating 8.5  (more shrimp would boost that number)

The Chicken Parmigiana was thin and fork tender, not at all tough.  The cheese and spices added great flavor and nothing was overpowering.  The sauce over the pasta was delicious.  Again the portion was generous and made for a nice lunch the next day.  Rating 9.

The server was very friendly and on top of everything and we didn't have to wait for anything and did not feel rushed at all.  It was a very pleasant experience that I strongly recommend to anyone.

Overall rating 9.
