Orange Resident Named Employee of the Quarter at Bridgeport Hospital

Orange resident Diane Vanacore is Bridgeport Hospital’s newest Employee of the Quarter for outstanding service to patients and colleagues.

Orange resident Diane Vanacore, along with Bob Holland and Dan Staff, both of Stratford, are Bridgeport Hospital’s newest Employees of the Quarter for their outstanding service to patients and colleagues during the period October–December 2012.

Vanacore is the lead mammography technologist in the Radiology Department. She has worked at the hospital for more than 30 years, and was chosen as December’s Employee of the Month.

“Diane greets patients with a warm smile and a friendly ‘hello’ and they become more at ease,” according to her nominators. “She also has a natural ability to teach. She is patient, thoughtful and engaging. Her strong rapport with physicians enhances the patient and student experience.”

Employees of the Quarter receive a plaque and a letter of commendation, and are eligible to be selected as Employee of the Year.

They should also be tested for other genetic disorders, such as Wilson's disease, which causes theRead More liver to store copper, eventually leading to acute liver failure. Unfortunately, the person who has it doesn't usually know until they are in liver failure. This disease killed my friend's daughter at the age of 6 - and they never knew until it was too late. My personal feeling is if there is a way to non-invasively test for these types of illnesses - no matter how rare - it should be done.
