Town Hall Art Gallery Opening Tonight

The inaugural art opening at the Gallery at Town Hall will feature the works of Graham Dale.

The Orange Arts and Culture Council, in partnership with the town of Orange, will open The Gallery at Town Hall, an exhibition space for artists, today. The OACC donated the hanging system to display paintings, which was installed by John Stewart, Building Superintendent.

The space is located on the second floor of Town Hall in the corridor leading to the elevator, near the office of the First Selectman, a strong supporter of this project. The Gallery at Town Hall will add another exhibition space in town and will be the venue for shows by local artists as well as artists from the surrounding area..

A Gallery Committee has been formed that will oversee the shows, each two months in duration. Opening receptions for the shows will be held, giving attendees an opportunity to meet the artists. A date for artists to submit works to be juried will be announced in the near future.

The first show, to be held this month, will feature the works of Graham Dale, a noted Orange artist who has exhibited abroad as well as in the United States. He has been an art teacher for many years and presently teaches classes at the Senior Center in addition to working with private students

The Gallery at Town Hall is an example of collaborative support for local artists by town officials and the OACC. The exhibitions in Town Hall will contribute to the cultural life of the town by integrating the experiences of viewing art while visiting Town Hall to conduct business. It will also raise awareness of the talented citizens who live among us.

There will be an opening reception today, Wednesday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m. The artist will be on hand to meet the public and light refreshments will be served.
