We were there yesterday! What a sweet business and cultural history place -- even if you have never, ever eaten a Pez.

Comparable to the various M&M Stores in various major cities. But an admission fee? C'mon, It's a store!
CuriousOrange April 30, 2012 at 01:30 PM
I think if you just want to buy stuff, you can bypass the admission fee. Right, Pez?
JNG April 30, 2012 at 01:35 PM
If you buy stuff, they give you a partial credit on your admission fee, like $2 or 3. It is a little cheesy to do that.

$5 to get in? Pez recieved $2 million form the State and then cut jobs. http://articles.courant.com/2011-10-12/business/hc-pez-protest-20111012_1_pez-candy-jobs-vittorio

I think the PEZ factory is worth the couple of bucks it costs to get in. Then again, there are plenty of other things to do in Milford.. http://www.milfordmarriotts.com/attractions/milfordAttractions-en.html Sleeping Giant State Park is my favorite. You can work off all the PEZ sugar you eat ;)

Maybe so. But if you show up with a group of kids it can add up.
Starla June 04, 2012 at 04:19 PM
Its more than a couple bucks, its $5 a head. For me, that is $25. For what is essentially just a candy store, it is a lot of money just to get in the door.
Starla June 04, 2012 at 04:20 PM
Pay an admission to get into the local McDonalds? Riiiight. I can see that happening.
Carlene June 26, 2012 at 04:24 PM
LAME-O! Peddle your schemes elsewhere!
Carlene June 26, 2012 at 04:30 PM
The website states that with each paid admission you will receive a $2.00 credit on your receipt good toward any merchandise purchase valid on the same day visit. But the admission price does NOT include the 10% admissions tax required by the state of CT.

Sounds like it would be a fun time and I and my children grew up with Pez candy and the many styles of Pez dispencers! But I agree why pay a fee don't they earn enough selling the flavored pure cavity inducing suger? Please! Only the middle class or poor people are interested and senior citizens got it bad enough trying to survive on the measley soc sec check not to mention the Medicare!! The older you get the more tests and meds and Dr appts we have and medicare does not cover hardly anything! Coming from the mouth of a new medicare person(in Nov). And I am scared to death!! So why make seniors pay anything at all?? Most of us worked hard all our lifes only to be poverty stricken in the end!!!
Starla August 05, 2012 at 07:08 PM
Social security was never designed to be your only source of retirement income. Medicare was never designed to pay 100% of your total medical bills. It only pays 80% of the assigned value of any given office visit, medical procedure, etc. That is why you will need a medi-gap insurance coverage. I post no opinion on whether this is a good system or not, I am only stating how it currently is.
CuriousOrange August 05, 2012 at 07:56 PM
You are right, Linda. Most of us worked hard and now, thanks to a government that bails out banks and corporations but not people, we are in a fix. Pez is amusing, but not more than any candy commercial you might see -- free-- on TV. As for class warfare, I blame the Republicans for most problems with Social Security and Medicare -- which they have fought, fussed with, and sought to dismantle and hand over to Wall Street. They did not bother to finance Medicare Part D, which was a gift to Wall Street and the pharmaceutical industry, and now they complain of (the foreseeable) deficits.

It is a shame this is turning into a social commentary about the ills of society. My initial comment was based upon the fact that this is a glorified retail outlet that charges an admission fee. I do admire their cross marketing with Geico producing a gecko dispensor and advertising that on the Geico Commercial. I am a staunch supporter of the free enterprise system, buty I don't like getting nickel and dimed to death.

A comment about an admission fee should not generate some enthnocentric, jingoistic, political rant. It can be a polite discussion about the merits of the subject which the comment was originally based on. It is these departures from the subject matter which hijack blogs and such discussions. It usually ENDS the discussions as people move on.

Man....Some of you people must have had a miserable frigging childhood.
