Orange Strawberry Festival Rescheduled to Sunday

Organizers say this year might bring the biggest crowd yet.

According to one of the festival's Facebook page, "Due to the predicition for rain tomorrow (Saturday, June 2, 2012), the Orange Strawberry Festival will now be held on SUNDAY, JUNE 3, 2012. We hope to see you all there!!!"

Get ready for some sweet treats because the fourth annual Orange Strawberry Festival is this Saturday.

The namesake berries will be featured in shortcakes, jams, and pies. There will also be plenty of kids’ activities like arts and crafts, games, face painting, and hayrides. The festival, on June 2 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town Green, will also feature local craft vendors.

Marie Gesler, co-chair of the festival, said that between 2,000 and 3,000 people attended last year, “much to our surprise.”

“It’s grown in leaps and bounds,” Gesler said of the festival.

Paul J. Grimmer, executive director of the Orange Economic Development Corp., said that the festival is a “very community-oriented activity … one of those very quaint, very New England type of festivals.”

The event is sponsored by the . Parking will be available at the church and at . Admission is free. The rain date is Sunday, June 3, when parking will be available at the , with shuttle service on that day only.
