UPDATED: Happy Holidays!

Have you noticed the new addition to the Town Green?

On April 11, the beloved mis-shapen Town Tree was cut down on the Town Green, leaving many residents wondering how the Holiday Festival in December would go on without a lighted tree. (See past stories and photos at http://patch.com/A-g6M2 and http://patch.com/A-fHtk)

The Congregational Church offered the use of its large tree at the end of the Green, but it has so much open spaces in between the branches that it just wouldn't be the same.

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Christmas arrived a little early to the Town Green.

Fred Trotta, who is donating the tree to the town in memory of his grandson, Frankie, was there to greet the driver from Millane Nurseries with Selectman Judy Wright Williams.

The highway department arrived to help remove the tree from the truck and then carefully get it to its new home.

Fred was able to rig up a plum line to make sure the new tree was straight.

Reverend Todd King and his son, Stewart, joined in welcoming the new Colorado blue spruce tree.  It now has perfect weather to help get it settled in before the winter.

So, fear not Orangites, the festival will go on. Long live the new Town Tree.
