Getting Ready For The BOW Relay For Life

Organizers are getting ready for tonight's BOW Relay for Life at the High Plains Community Center in Orange.

Registration tables are being set up, T-shirts are all here and there's excitement in the air for the event, which kicks off at noon today, June 1, and lasts through the evening into tomorrow.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature event in which communities across the country honor cancer survivors and those who have passed away, and raise funds in the fight against the disease. The first BOW Relay took place in 1999.

"Right here," Debbie Davis says pointing out at the field at High Plains.

Davis, a health and physical education teacher at Amity High School, is a breast cancer survivor. She'll be one of more than 14 who will be participating in the BOW Relay. There are a total of 58 teams.

The community is encouraged to stop by to show their support.
