Garden Club of Orange Publishes Club History

Club's 80 year history in print thanks to grant money.

As part of its celebration of its 80 years of service to the Town of Orange, The Garden Club of Orange published its history.

In many ways, the publication is not just a history of the Club, but also of the Town of Orange. The Club was founded in 1930, and is a member of The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc. and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the members have donated many hours in service to promote civic and environmental responsibility.

The History was published with a 3M Foundation Grant through the 3M Volunteer Match Program in recognition of club member Patricia Dray’s service in the Club, and was researched and written by Gail Nixon, a Club member since 1964.

Nixon was assisted by Club members David Maier, Nancy Matthies, and Nancy Mellone. Copies are available in the Case Memorial Library, Orange Reference Section, the Town Clerk’s Office and the Historical Society.
