Almost Done: UI Crews and Contractors Still Working

As of 5:28 p.m. only 3 UI customers were without power in the town of Orange. This is a significant change from the 4,000 + that were left in the dark after Hurricane Irene last weekend.

Patch has been out and about all week watching the local UI crews and out-of-state contractors working side-by-side to restore electricity to everyone in town (and throughout the state).

Today, a convoy of trucks was parked on Old TAs avern Road while workers scattered across the lawn and property of one home in an effort to bring a little light back into the homeowner's life before nightfall.

Up the street an AT&T truck with one worker in a bucket was parked next to a pole, working just as hard as the electrical contractors.

As I write this Utility crews are still out there doing their jobs. THREE customers are without power and it looks like Orange may be back to full power by sunset.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Don't forget to thank the utility workers for their commitment to you — for leaving their families in the dark to restore your power. It's been frustrating for so many, but now that it's almost over remember, a little kindness, a handshake and a thank you would go a long long way.
