WEST HAVEN/MILFORD – Dr. Joseph Tartagni DMD, owner of Shoreline Dental Care in West Haven and Milford, is heading to Jamaica to work with Missions for Health through NOVA Dental School with his son by his side, Jason Tartagni, a 2nd year dental student at NOVA.
When asked what motivated him to attend this trip, Jason replied, “For as long as I can remember my father has donated his time and services as part of his business philosophy. He has been involved with charitable organizations including Past President of the West Haven Rotary Club, and provided his support financially to numerous charitable organizations to help those less fortunate. My mother has always been active in fundraising for charity as well, especially for March of Dimes and Walk for ALS. It is them that I have modeled myself after, and I have never known any other way. This mission trip was the opportunity to do something more substantial for a group of people who desperately need it. When I heard the stories about the Jamaican people we would be trying to reach, who not only cannot afford dental care but often cannot even find transportation to dental providers, I knew this was a trip I had to be a part of.”
Jason then asked his father, Dr. Joseph Tartagni, to attend the trip as a practicing doctor – a proposal that Dr. Tartagni accepted immediately. “Over the years I’ve tried to give back and it’s always a great feeling when I do! There are plenty of students willing to help but there is a need for doctors as well, so it was easy to say YES.”
Shoreline Dental Care is giving the community a chance to help – by offering $1 for each new “Like” of their Facebook page, throughout the month of June. The funds raised (up to $2,500) will go towards scholarships for NOVA dental students to attend the trip.
