State Rep. Candidate's mother involved in Hurricane Sandy automobile fatality

The mother of Democratic candidate for CT state representative Aldon Hynes has died in a storm-related car accident in Pennsylvania. Alice Hynes, age 81, was a passenger in her daughter's automobile when it skidded off the road in Turkeyfoot Township, PA in snow and ice conditions at approximately 9:30 pm Monday night as Hurricane Sandy made landfall. Abigail O'Connor, the candidate's sister and driver of the car, was unharmed in the accident.

Aldon Hynes is challenging incumbent Themis Klarides in the 114th general assembly district which encompasses Woodbridge, Orange and Derby, CT. His campaign has issued a press advisory that while he will be unavailable for campaign-related activities for a short period of time he remains committed to the campaign and will continue his candidacy through election day.
