Obituary Lucia Rosina Savarese Crescenti

Lucia Rosina Savarese Crescenti of Orange entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at St. Raphael's Hospital.

She was the devoted wife of the late Louis Joseph Crescenti, beloved mother to Lucia Bloom (Jonathan), Louis Jr., and Melchior (Lynda). She was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 16, 1920, daughter of the late Josephine Monaco and Dr. Melchior F.R. Savarese.

The family moved to Orange in 1930 and Lucia attended Orange Center School in 1933 and graduated Hillhouse High School in 1937. She went to Traphagen School of Fashion in NYC and worked in the fashion industry for the next eight years.

She married in 1952 and raised her family in Orange. Lucia was very active in the Race Brook PTA and served as President of the PTA Council. As a member of the Holy Infant Church, she served as president of the Women's Guild.

In 1972, she was proudly crowned Queen of Orange for Orange's Sesquicentennial celebration. While teaching and finally serving as the department head in the Fashion Design department at Eli Whitney Tech Vocational High School, Lucia attended Central Ct. State University to take her education courses.

She retired in 1989 after seventeen years. Lucia joined the Orangewood Women's Club and served as president for two years. She chaired the "Operation Smile", a charitable organization, collecting supplies for children with deformities in third world countries.

She leaves two sisters, Rita L. Moule and Rosina M. Varsh, brother, Pasquale R. Savarese and three cherished grandchildren, Alessandra Bloom, Lyndsay and Melchior Crescenti.

Lucia was predeceased by her brother Melchior F. Savarese. The family wishes to thank her wonderful loving caregivers, Florence Karolkowski, Patricia Doman and Josephine Sonsini and the nurses and techs who watched over her care in her last week at the hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT. 06477. Interment following at Mt. Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby.

There were no calling hours. Arrangements were handled by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
