136th Annual KOSP Banquet to Feature Bobby Valentine as Keynote Speaker

Bobby Valentine, the former Major League Baseball player and manager, and a Connecticut high school legend will serve as the keynote speaker at the 136th Annual Banquet of the Knights of St. Patrick beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. March 17 at the New Haven Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Ave., organizers said.

Founded in New Haven in 1878, The Knights of St. Patrick is a nonprofit, charitable organization that helps promote the cultural traditions of Irish-Americans, and membership is open to all genders, religions, and ethnic affiliations, organizers said in a statement.

“The heartfelt virtues of the original members are very much alive today. The Knights of St. Patrick constantly open their collective hearts and club facilities to many worthy and charitable causes. The Knights host events throughout the year to salute individuals whose service or dedication to the Greater New Haven area merit special recognition, such as Public Safety Night honoring local law enforcement and the fire department,” the statement said.

The annual dinner is a “festive, black-tie event that is a long-standing and historic tradition in New Haven.” The theme is always ‘Levity and Brevity,’ and a wonderful evening is had by all,” the statement said. Tickets are $100 per person on or before March 10 and $110 after that date.

For more information on the event, contact Banquet Chairwoman Bernadette Smyth LaFrance at (203) 843-7062, by email lafranceb@comcast.net, or call the club at (203) 789-9535. Those unable to attend, are asked to consider doing a sponsorship in memory and honor of a loved one. The levels of sponsorship are $50, $100 and $250.
