The New Face of Subway

The first of its kind Subway restaurant opens in Orange on Saturday.

All Subway restaurants have a cookie cutter design. Customers walk in to the familiar aroma of fresh baked bread and spices, line up to the glass case and order their sandwiches.

Some prefer to sit down at a small table for two or four by a window, but many just grab their plastic bag and go.

Well, things are about to change, and it’s all happening in Orange this Saturday.

Junior Cintron, who owns seven other area Subway restaurants, will host the grand opening celebration of his fancy new Subway, designed more like a high class eatery than a stop and go sandwich shop.

Cintron’s Subway is located at 292 Boston Post Road at the end of the Party City building (Near Georgina’s Hair Studio and Knight’s Inc.)

Upon entering this restaurant, you get the feel of a cozy Vermont ski lodge with rich warm tones, a stone fireplace, comfortable chairs and sofas create a relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy your stay.

This location also offers free WiFi and a flat screen television for customer’s enjoyment.

It is the first Subway to feature a drive-thru for customers on-the-go. And in keeping with the “green” movement, it also has charging stations for electric cars, and solar panels on the roof to ease energy consumption.

Despite the new look, Junior still wanted to maintain a hint of the brand’s nostalgia in his new restaurant. An etched glass mural containing the original New York City wallpaper found years ago in the chain’s restaurants adds to the interesting interior design, as most locations no longer include this aspect.

You can meet Junior Cintron this Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Grand opening from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., which will feature a full day of entertainment with KC101 and DJ John Mayer.

Breakfast options will be offered before noon.  Event goers will have the chance to play on the “Spin ‘N’ Win” prize wheel and can even enjoy a free six inch regular sub.

Cintron, joined the Subway company at 16 as a sandwich artist and became a franchisee at 18. He has been with the chain for 25 years and owns seven locations.
