Supermoon

The Smoking Gun Research Agency has something special planned at its center on Racebrook Road.

Tonight is your chance to see the “Supermoon.” The Full Moon will appear 30% brighter and 15% larger. The last time this happened was in March of 1993. NASA astronomers say a fluke of orbital mechanics that brings the moon closer to Earth than that it has been in more than 18 years.

This month, the full moon and perigee are just under one hour apart, promising spectacular views, depending on local conditions.

The Smoking Gun Research Agency, 284 Racebrook Road, invites everyone (kids welcome too) to join them at the center for a “Supermoon Viewing Party,” beginning at 6:30 p.m.

“No reservations necessary, just come by and join us outside of our Research Center, next to the pond,” said Director Jon Nowinski.

They also will offer a special meditation workshop scheduled with Robert Stempson from the Programs for Human Development which will begin at about 7:30 p.m., and so those who would like to attend the meditation are invited to stay. The cost for the workshop is $20 / $15 for members.
