Peck Place School Principal Albert A. deCant Retiring in June

His character education program focuses on positive reinforcement of caring, responsible behavior by students.

The principal of ’s Peck Place School, Albert A. deCant is such a special part of the school day for the students at the school that a video story done on him by 11-year-old Brian Forbes won the 6th grader a coveted job as a national children’s reporter.

But according to the New Haven Register, deCant is planing to retire at the end of this school year after 39 years as an educator, something he approaches with mixed feelings because he says he loves his job so much.

Foremost among his accomplishments, the story says, is the character education program he created for Peck Place School, which promotes courteous, caring behavior through positive reinforcement.
