Britton Lauds Link Crew Program

Freshman Orientation took place at Amity High School on Friday with fun and games and peer lessons with the Link Crew.

Amity High School Principal Charles Britton said that the highlight of the week was the kick-off for the 2011-2012 Link Crew Orientation.

"This past week, Amity’s Link Crew faculty advisors began training this year’s Link Crew leaders," he said. "Link Crew leaders are upperclassmen who volunteer to work with incoming students and guide them through the freshmen year."

On Friday, Aug. 26, more than 350 students in the Class of 2015 arrived at the high school and began their orientation. Incoming freshmen spent the day with Link Crew leaders in a series of confidence building, leadership, and character development programs.

Each team dressed in costume for a different theme, ie: pirate, where's Waldo, beach party, post-it notes, etc. and stayed in character throughout the day.

The day culminated with a tour of the building and a BBQ by the pond.

Britton said, "Link Crew program activities will continue throughout the 2011-2012 academic year. On behalf of the entire faculty, staff, and student body, we extend a hearty “WELCOME TO AMITY” to all of this year’s incoming freshmen."
